The following is the 50th cover designed and created by Vasant Sarwate ( वसंत सरवटे) for Marathi magazine Lalit (ललित).

Third row from the bottom, two covers on the left, belong to Diwali 2007 and 2009 about which I have already written in the respective years.
The one on the bottom left is dated Diwali 1964. Not just the plant has grown into a solid looking (guava?) tree but even the kid has grown into a nattily dressed middle-aged man - no doubt feeling little proud- who is still smiling.
Today Sarwate himself is in autumn of his life but listen carefully, and you can hear his life force gushing through the tree of Lalit, 'वसंत वृक्ष'.

तुमची ही अनुदिनी मी नियमितपणे वाचत असतो. कधी कधी अभिप्राय देत असतो. आपण ज्या आत्मीयतेने मराठी साहित्यावर लिहिता ते मराठीतून का लिहित नाही असे विचारावेसे वाटते.

ReplyDeleteतुम्ही निवडलेला मार्ग तुम्हाला आवडत असला तरी आम्हा वाचकांचे प्रांजळ मत विचारात घ्याल की नाही ? त्याला काहीच किंमत नाही की काय ? मग हा अनुदिनीचा व्याप कुणासाठी आहे ? माझे हे मत इतरांना विचारून पहा आणि मग ठरवा काय तुम्हाला पसंत ते. अहो, मराठी साहित्यावर लिहायचे, ते वाचणारे या महाराष्ट्रातले किंवा जगातले समजा, वाचक जवळपास सर्व मराठी मग जे लिहिणार ते मराठीत का नाही ? हा माझा सरळ प्रश्न आहे.
