Sahitya Sammelan Visits were Worth it!

Yesterday, March 26, I bought 13 books of Vinoba Bhave (विनोबा भावे) at the book exhibition of "akhil bharatiya marathi sahitya sammelan" (अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलन).

If you are interested please contact following address:

Parandham Prakashan, Pavnar, Dist: Vardha PIN 442 111 Phone: 07152-288040 and 9822565574

(परंधाम प्रकाशन , पवनार , जिल्हा: वर्धा )

I also got a number of difficult-to-lay-your-hands-on books of different authors- most of them now dead- at Venus Prakashan (व्हीनस प्रकाशन).

count on day 1: 29.

p.s.

count on day 3: 30 [including rare books like Bahurupi (बहुरूपी) by Chintamanrao Kolhatkar (चिंतामणराव कोल्हटकर) ,1957]

Net net : 59!

So after all sammelan visits were worth it.

  3. Recently I returned to Pune for good and fortunately could attend the Sammelan. I found the book you keep refering to in the context of Hussain controversy. Although, no argument, absolutely none, can ever change my views regarding freedom of expression, I will definitely keep an open mind while reading Bhagwat's views, so that at least I am able empathise even if I won't be able to sympathise with her views.

I also bought Pinglavel by G A Kulkarni. I am really looking forward to reading Kairi and about Taani mavashi.

I almost gave into temptation and would have bought Rajvade entire collection of books on Maharastra's historiography from the Rajvade foundation's stall at the Sammelan. The only reason I backed out was that I wasn't sure if I could sustain my interest given that I read Marathi slowly in comparison to English.

Glad you found what you were looking for.

  4. I am happy you too got what you were looking for, Chetan.

I cannot read all of Rajwade.

For me, selected Rajwade by Akademi is good enough.

I feel I raided Popular Prakashan on Sunday morning. It was a loot. My shoulders ached carrying it!

Even if they had priced them double (suckers!) than what they did, I would have still bought all those books.

    best,
